Why Should Ohio South Have A State League
The Ohio South State League (OSSL) is set to kick off its inaugural season September 1st 2012! The OSSL will be comprised of teams from throughout the Ohio South membership. Teams will be able to make their own schedules through a longer season to accomodate outside league play and tournaments. Teams can also register directly with the OSSL. All teams who intend on applying to the MRL must play in the State League. This includes teams who previously played in MRL in the previous season and new teams applying for entry. A maximum of eight (8) teams per age group per gender may be recommended by OSYSA to the MRL for each season of play. A total of four (4) teams per age group per gender are guaranteed acceptance into the MRL for each season of play from OSYSA. Recommendations to MRL from OSYSA will be based upon final standings in the OSSL.
Invite and Acceptance Dates: Teams will receive an invitation from OSYSA after the OSYSA State Cup Finals. Teams will then have until July 6th 2012 to accept or decline the invitation to be considered for OSSL for the 2012/13 season.
Game Schedule and Locations: Games and locations will be comprised of self scheduled games by the home teams and designated play dates at defined locations selected by the league. These locations are currently under review and will be announced in the near future.
2012 Fall Season Team Information
The MIDWEST REGIONAL LEAGUE’s (MRL) mission is to provide the highest standard of competitive play for youth teams that are members of US Youth Soccer Region II (the Midwest Region) and to assure the continued growth and development of elite level players. The MRL offers quality league competition in our area as teams vie for the chance to earn spots into the Midwest Regionals as part of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series.
LEVEL OF COMMITMENT EXPECTED BY MRL TEAMS
Any team looking to participate in the MRL must understand the level of commitment it takes to participate in a League that stretches across the Midwest. All teams must understand that this is a Regional League and that teams may travel hundreds of miles to participate in MRL games. The determination of game sites is based in part due to home locations of teams within a division as well as field availability. Teams understand that they may not play any home games. A limited number of teams are accepted. Team success, with special emphasis on State Cup (a competition that all team must have participated in during 2011-2012) and Regionals competition results, helps determine qualification for participation in the MRL. The level of competition surpasses any youth team competition within a team’s state association. Teams will be competing against the best US Youth Soccer affiliated teams from across the Midwest.
We are accepting team applications for the 2012 Fall Season. The team registration period is open until 5 pm ET, Wed, July 4. We
have a new team registration process. Teams interested in applying must
contact their state association for a website link into their state
specific team application page.
Your local State Association shall review your application and solely determine if your team shall receive State Association recommendation (approval) to participate in the MRL. A maximum of eight (8) teams* may be recommended by a state association in any one gender age group of MRL competition. Teams participating in the MRL must have competed in their state association’s State Cup during the previous year (2011-2012). Only after State Association recommendation, will the MRL review the application and determine if your team shall be accepted into the MRL for the 2012 Fall Season.
